A common source of water pollution are insoluble trash or garbage such as plastics, metals, and other non-biodegradable materials that are either dumped in the oceans voluntarily or accidentally by runoff. We can potentially reduce this effect by first cleaning up the existing trash in the ocean, then either (1) reduce the use of plastic, (2) promote recycling, or (3) both.
