As part of his economic plan, Reagan pushed "Reaganomics." This economic philosophy was based around the ideas of cutting taxes and laissez faire government. In other words, he wanted to significantly decrease the amount the federal government interferes with businesses/economy. This philosophy resulted in less government regulation of business and less taxes these businesses had to pay to the government.
