Given equation is :

[tex]x^{2} -\frac{3x}{4} =5[/tex]

Step 1: half of coefficient of x

[tex]\frac{-3}{4} *\frac{1}{2} = \frac{-3}{8}[/tex]

Squaring this we get

[tex](\frac{-3}{8} )^{2} = \frac{9}{64}[/tex]

step 2:

Adding [tex]\frac{9}{64}[/tex] to both sides

[tex]x^{2} -\frac{3x}{4} +\frac{9}{64} = 5 +\frac{9}{64}[/tex]
