Soviet Union and United States
The United states represented the "First World", the capitalist, democratic west and was the major power. The Soviet Union represented the "Second world" or communist, command economy east and constituted its major power. There were other large minor powers but they were secondary in power and capability and generally depended upon or followed the lead of the US and USSR, respective of their allegiances.
