You want to get the variable (x) alone.

In order to do that, we have to get one variable instead of the 2 that's already there.

We can do that by dividing the variable by its own coefficient.

[tex] \frac{2x}{2} = 22 [/tex]

Then, what you do to the left, you must do to the right.

[tex] \frac{2x}{2} = \frac{22}{2} [/tex]

This simplifies down to [tex] x = 11 [/tex].
