1.) Affliction is to calamity as lamentation is to weeping

Lamentation means a demonstration of grief, whereas weeping means to express a harsh sorrow through tears.

Both words are connected because when someone is lamenting he or she expresses it by weeping.  

Weeping is the best choice because sullen means something that has an ill-temper or low-spirited and jocund means something cheerful that rises the spirits, which is an antonym of weeping (Merriam-Webster).
