Solve for a if the line through the two given points has the given slope.(a,5) and (1,−5),m=−2

slope (m) = (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁)

-2/1 = (a - 1)/(5 -(-5))

-2 = (a - 1)/10

-20 = a - 1

-19 = a

Answer: a = -19
