Add -3 to -8 first. (Addition) because in PEMDAS, there is no parenthesis in this problem, no exponents, no multiplication, and no division. So addition is next.

You would use P.E.M.D.A.S.

It doesn't matter how it would be added or subtracted, it's the same answer any way you do the equation.
