• [tex]log_{b}[/tex] x = n ⇔ x = [tex]b^{n}[/tex], hence

[tex]log_{4}[/tex](2x - 12) = 3 ⇒ 2x - 12 =  [tex]4^{3}[/tex] = 64

add 12 to both sides

2x = 76 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 38
