Wesley bought 1/2 pound of nails for a project. When he finished the project, he had 1/4 pounds of nails left. How many pounds of nails did he use?

1/2-1/4=1/4

so if you have a half a pound left then you minus the amount you have left from the total you started with and you get 1/4
