the equation to find the slope is
[tex] m = \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} \\ m = \frac{ - 1 - 2}{0 - 4} \\ m = \frac{ - 3}{ - 4} \: or \: \frac{3}{4} [/tex]
now you have to use the point-slope formula
[tex]y - y1 = m(x - x1) \\ y - ( - 1) = \frac{3}{4} (x - 0) \\ y + 1 = \frac{3}{4} x \\ y = \frac{3}{4} x - 1[/tex]
the equation of the line is
[tex]y = \frac{3}{4} x - 1[/tex]
