How do we know that some pattern, rhythm, or meter was present in some of the psalms?

We can realise by reading a psalm that the first line will state the whole pattern in which it is written. Every time we read a psalm aloud, we can perceive the rhythm in it. In this way, we use musical words or notes to give rhythm throughout a psalm.
