The whole circumference is represented by an angle of [tex] 2\pi [/tex] radians.

If you divide this angle by 6, you get

[tex] \dfrac{2\pi}{6} = \dfrac{\pi}{3} [/tex]

So, such an angle is one sixth of the whole angle, and thus its arc is one sixth of the whole circumference
