Answer: cause haploids make gamets... And each female and male gamets share their DNA together...

And IF we didn't have haploids that would make double DNA every time...

Like ur parents each have 46 Chromosomes and iffff they wouldn't have the haploid gamets at the end of meiosis you would have 46+46 chromosomes.... Terrible yeah?

So this haploid stuff has been organized so each the parents share half DNA ... 23 father+ 23 mother... So the next generation will have 46 chromosomes...
