Adaptations by animals in the wild is called natural selection, where animals (WITHOUT any interference by humans) with the best of a certain trait like, say swimming, the best swimmers are able to reproduce offspring that will then have their own offspring ect. and over time, the bodies of the next offspring will slowly change to help them swim even better, and that's natural selection in a nutshell, hope this helps
