Why does Lisbeth Searcy tell Travis that she saw Old Yeller stealing food?

In the novel entitled Old Yeller, Lisbeth Searcy the granddaughter of Bud Searcy told Travis that she saw Old Yeller stealing food. She did that because that was the truth and the truth needs to be told. She just did the right thing and Travis had confirmed it.
