The Electric field of a line of charge is E (r) = λ/(ε*2*π*r) where r is the distance between our line of charge and the point where we want to calculate the electric field and λ is the linear charge density.

Here r = [tex]\sqrt{x-cm^{2}+y^{2} }[/tex] and here we are addressing the displacement of 8cm in the x axis.
