Earth's axis being tilted causes the change in seasons. different areas of the Earth receive the Sun's [most direct] rays through the course of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is summer when the North Pole faces {tilts} toward the Sun. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter when the South Pole faces {tilts} toward the Sun.
