[tex]4-(2a+3b)^2[/tex]

[tex](2a+3b)^2 :[/tex]

[tex]4a^2+12ab+9b^2[/tex]

[tex]= 4-(4a^3+12ab+9b^2) [/tex]

[tex]=-(4a^2)-(12ab)-(9b^2)[/tex]

apply minus -  plus rules :

[tex]+(-a)=-a[/tex]

Refine:

[tex]=-4-4a^2-12ab-9b^2[/tex]

hope this helps!
