For this case we must simplify the following expression:

[tex]6 (1 + 8n) = - 39 + 3n[/tex]

We apply distributive property on the left side of the equation:

[tex]6 * 1 + 6 * 8n = -39 + 3n\\6 + 48n = -39 + 3n[/tex]

We subtract 3n from both sides of the equation:

[tex]6 + 48n-3n = -39\\6 + 45n = -39[/tex]

We subtract 6 from both sides of the equation:

[tex]45n = -39-6\\45n = -45[/tex]

We divide between 45 on both sides of the equation:

[tex]n = \frac {-45} {45}\\n = -1[/tex]

Answer:

[tex]n = -1[/tex]
