It leads back to world war 1 and the ottoman empire. The collapse of the ottoman empire saw the European powers carve up and redraw the borders of the middle east with out taking an account of the different cultures, different ethnic groups,diffrent religious groups, the difference in language amongst the people. These borders the Europeans drew are still unchanged and is a cause of violince in the middle east.
