Sometimes

n can equal any number, negative or positive. A positive number for n would result in -n being negative. For example, if n = 2, then -n would be -2. If n was negative, the two negatives would result in a positive, and it would make the overall answer positive. n = -2, then -n would be --2, and both negatives would result in a +2.
