Well think, 24= 8x4  right? So, 2 can go into 24 which=12 so lets divide.
24÷2= 12
12÷2=6
6÷2=3
3 is the smallest we can get so can 3 go into 24? yes, so 8 times 
so the smallest they can be are 8*3 and you cant reduce 8 anymore because of the three once one gets the smallest they both do. hope this helped.
