4x + 12= 96 because she bought 4x pants and one shirt with total of 96.

you subtract the shirt from the total because it doesn’t include the pants. so it would then be 4x= 84.

to find the amount of pants you divide 84 by 4 because 84 is the total for 4 pants together.

you are left with 21$ which is the price for each pair of pants.
