3x + 2y = 20
STEP ONE:
Substitute the value for y
3x + 2(3x + 8) = 20
STEP TWO:
Multiply because of PEMDAS
3x + 6x + 16 = 20
9x + 16 = 20
STEP THREE:
Subtract 16 from 20
9x = 4
STEP FOUR:
Divide
9x/9 4/9
FINAL ANSWER:
x = 4/9
SOLVE FOR Y:
y = 3(4/9) + 8
y = 11 and 4/9
