The silk roads led to ports on the Persian Gulf the good were then transported up the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Routes also connected to ports along the Mediterranean Sea, goods were shipped to cities throughout the Roman Empire and into Europe.
Because the Silk Road was an important network of arteries in which culture, ideas, art and many more traveled together, and helped in its development.
