Likely trying to find an individuality within the societal standards for my gender. I could have an opinion on politics that wouldn’t matter since I can’t vote, I could have the finances to pay for a home but that wouldn’t mean one would be sold to me.. thinking of the privilege women have in modern day compared to those in the 1800’s is huge. Individuality and personal life is likely the hardest thing women in the 1800’s had to face
