Name   x + y = 3  equation (1) and  x - y = 3 equation (2)

Add equations (1) and (2)  

 (1)   x+ y = 3

 (2) x - y = 3    

        2x = 6

          x = 3  

Substitute x = 3 into equation (1).  So, 3 + y = 3

                                                                    y = 0
