I think the statement above is true. Nucleic acids are biological polymers that are comprised of nucleotide monomers covalently bonded together.  The components that make up each nucleotide monomer are composed of a nitrogenous base, a five-carbon sugar (ribose or deoxyribose), and at least one phosphate group.
