We have to leave X by itself so the first step we are going to is to subtract 10 from both sides of the equation:

7x + 10 - 10 = 59 - 10 Which equals 7x = 49

We then need to get 7 away from the X. For this we need to divide both sides of the algebraic expression:

7x = 49

7   =  7

This gives us the answer:

                                               x=7
