So, let's solve 3x^2-3x-2x+2=-17x+8

1) Simplify both sides.

3x^2-5x+2=-17x+8

2) Write equation in standard form. Polynomial on the left side, and 0 on the right.

3x^2+12x-6=0

3) Divide by the current lead coeffecient, which is 3.

1x^2+4x-2=0

4) Move constant to the right side of the equation.

1x^2+4x=2

5) Square the number

(x+2)^2=6

6) Solve the equation.

Hope I helped.
