What is the solution to the inequality 5(x-2)(x+4)>0

divide by 5 and you are left with:

(x-2)(x+4)>0  for this to be true both terms need to be positive or both negative:

x>2 and x<-4

So the inequality is true for x=(-oo, -4),(2,+oo)
