The general equation of a circle can be written as (x – a)² + (y – b)² = r². Here a is the x-coordinate of the circle centre and b is the y-coordinate of the circle centre. Therefore the equation of a circle with centre at (4,1) is (x – 4)²+ (y – 1)² = r². Where r is the radius of the circle.
