BAL stands for body alcohol level. It is a metric for alcohol intoxication.
Women and men absorb and metabolise alcohol different. Women have a greater BAL than mean because
women have less body water than man. (Having less water will result alcohol to
achieve higher concentration in the blood.) and because women have less of the enzyme which
breaks down alcohol in the stomach.
Hormones have also
influence and can make a woman more vulnerable to the effect of alcohol.
