remember:
[tex] \frac{x^m}{x^n}=x^{m-n}[/tex]

so

[tex] \frac{t^{12}}{t^6}=t^{12-6}=t^6[/tex]
so we have
t⁶=t²
0=t⁶-t²
0=(t²)(t⁴-1)
0=(t²)(t²-1)(t²+1)
0=(t²)(t-1)(t+1)(t²+1)

t²=0
t=0

0=t-1
1=t

0=t+1
-1=t

so therefor t=-1 or 0 or 1
