5.555 = 5.1 + 0.05 + 0.005

= 5.5 + 0.05 + 0.05(.1)

= 5.5 + 0.05/(1-.1)

=5.5+0.05/.9

=5.5 + 5/90

= 5.5+1/18

=55/10 + 1/18

= 495/90 + 5/90

=500/90

= 50/9

= 5 5/9
