simplify 7x - 9x + 10 to -2x + 10

subtract 6 from both sides

simplify -2x + 10 - 6 to -2x + 4

add 2x to both sides

simplify -4x + 2x to -2x

divide both sides by -2

simplify 4/2 to 2

Answer: x = -2.
