How did the funding for England's early colonies differ from those of Spain?

The answer is Jamestown was a joint stock company so they people who owned the stocks payed for it.
As for the spain colonies, all the expense that the spain spent to develop their colonies were came from the spanish empire's budget, so the profit from the colonies will belong entirely to the government, while in England the profit belongs to all shareholders.
