Given the formular for relating the area A, the two bases, a and b, and the height, h of a trapezoid is given by

[tex]A= \frac{1}{2}h (a+b)[/tex]

We solve for h as follows:

[tex]A= \frac{1}{2}h (a+b) \\ \\ \Rightarrow2A=h (a+b) \\ \\ \Rightarrow h= \frac{2A}{a+b} [/tex]
