In order to calculate for the distance that Jose needs to cover to go back to where he started, just use the concept of Pythagorean theorem. First illustrate the given in triangular form. The missing side is the distance covered by Jose. To calculate for the side just get the sum of the square of the two number and then get the square root of the answer. The answer would be 5 km northwest.
