Suppose the leftmost digits of two numbers are 8 and 3 can u tell which number is greater? Explain

No because although 8 is a greater number than 3 it could be 300 and 80, therefore the 3 number would be greater. But it could just as easily be 30 and 800. You cannot tell by a single digit.
