The correct answer is 1968. This was the year that George Wallace ran for president as third party campaign in an attempt to force a contingent election in the United States House of Representatives, to segregate Southern leaders. Wallace won five Southern States but he wasn't able to force a contingent election. Nowadays, it is the last example of a third party candidate receiving over 10 percent of popular vote on presidential elections.
