Pre-operational stage - During this stage (toddler to 7 years ) , children can process symbolic information. They understand the meanings of symbols, for example, seeing the car keys in Mom's hand means it is time to go out.Their memory and imagination also develops. In fact, they are, at this stage, equipped to take on role play games and make-believe.They understand the difference between past, present and future and have a more mature language and vocabulary.
