The flooding of the Nile is important, because whenever the Nile floods, it leaves behind silt, which is a kind of soil that is rich in nutrients. This kind of soil is best for growing crops, and so the land around the Nile can be farmlands. Without the Nile River, Egypt would be like almost all the other countries in Africa: dry, desert areas that aren't built up
