Which scientist established the law of octaves?

The correct answer is John Alexander Reina Newlands. He established the law of octaves which basically set the elements according to their atomic number and grouped them according to their physical and chemical properties. His ideas were used later in creation of the periodic laws and the periodic table of elements.
