When auscultating over the lung fields, the breath sounds that indicate adequate ventilation is called vesicular sounds. These breath sounds are usually low-pitched and murmurous, which appears to have a higher intensity level when someone is inhaling. When exhaling, the nurse should hear that the intensity of the vesicular sound fades so quickly.
