When lincoln was elected president in 1860, what were his views on slavery

His views included:

-Not allowing slavery to expand any further in America. 

-Allowing slavery to remain in states that already had it.

Lincoln did not like slavery and wanted to end the practice eventually but he was not an abolitionist. He respected the Constitutional right to own slaves.
