Why did the British think they would win the war against the colonist

Answer:

They were the largest empire that had conquerd lots of africa and other continets, the thought that fighting the colonists was just a bump in the road. The though that this was an obstacle they had to face to take over and colonize the united state because it was a very valuable peice of land with lots of fertile soil that had varying climates.
