The vertex form of the parabola:

[tex]f(x)+a(x-h)^2+k\\\\(h;\ k)-a\ vertex[/tex]

We have the coordinates of a vertex

[tex](-3;-5)\to h=-3;\ k=-5[/tex]

substitute:

[tex]y=(x-(-3))^2+(-5)=(x+3)^2-5[/tex]
