4/9 × 81/1 ( the fraction still equals 81)

Now cross cancel;

4/1 × 9/1

multiply numerators;

4 × 9 = 36

multiply denominators;

1 ×1 = 1

so 4/9 × 81 =  36/1 or in simplest form = 36
